1. Times Now News -

Rating Score -> 3/5

Jigra is a barely decent watch. Vasan Bala hasn't tapped into the actual potential of the story at hand. Rather than injecting sharp twists and suspense, the screenplay remains largely predictable and plain. Amidst the mediocrity, the heartfelt rendition of Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka provides a brief emotional lift.

2. India Today -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Jigra offers Alia a lot of scope to create some solid moments. But most of the film feels like an exercise to cash in on her star power rather than create an interesting premise around her.

3. India TV -

Rating Score -> 3/5

Vasan's directorial is a heartfelt story of bravery, loyalty between siblings, and the sacrifices that love sometimes demands. Alia Bhatt's sisterly love for Vedang Raina in the film can make you fall for the sibling love. The film has so much to offer than just thrilling action and family emotions.

4. First Post -

Rating Score -> 3/5

Vasan Bala’s Jigra is an emotional saga which talks about sibling bonding and to what extent an elder sister can go to save the life of her little brother. A truly dedicated elder sister who is more like a mother and the only support system, Alia Bhatt has nailed the role of Satya with her brilliant craft.

5. Financial Express -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

‘Jigra’ emerges as a film with lofty ambitions that ultimately fall short of expectations. While Alia Bhatt delivers a commendable performance and certain scenes resonate with emotional intensity, the overall impact is diluted by a flawed screenplay.

6. Money Control -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Vasan Bala's Jigra doesn't really offer anything unique. A prison break thriller isn't something we haven't already seen before (think: Savi, which was released in May). The commentary on feminism could have been more nuanced than “tu mujhe Rakhi bandh ta hai toh main teri Raksha karungi”. Watch if you wish to see Alia Bhatt be all badass and beat up guys in an oversized shirt.

7. News 24 -

Rating Score -> 3/5

Alia exudes confidence in ‘Jigra.’ Having said that, the film’s hype isn’t anything compared to her previous film, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.’ Probably because of minimal promotion, the first-day show had sparse audience. It remains to be seen if this jailbreak movie will attract viewers to theaters.

8. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 2/5

Alia Bhatt film is a stretch of both patience and credulity. Alia Bhatt’s performances usually have at least a couple of distinctive notes. Here, badass replacing vulnerability, those edges are blunted. Jigra becomes a stretch, of both patience and credulity.

9. Hindustan Times -

Rating Score -> n/a

Jigra, to sum it up, is a well-made thriller, which though a bit predictable in parts, doesn’t let you down. Satya’s 'jigra' makes you wish you too were under her protection.

10. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

While Jigra showcases moments of brilliance, particularly through Alia Bhatt's remarkable performance and impressive action sequences, its chaotic narrative and focus on style over substance hinder its overall impact. A more streamlined narrative and stronger premise would have elevated this film greatly.

11. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a

Despite the later refrain of “I got the fire”, Jigra does not hit reaction mass. The obstacle course of ambushes, infiltrations and escapes in the home stretch feels improbable and overblown.

12. NDTV -

Rating Score -> 3/5

It goes without saying that Alia Bhatt does full justice to Jigra. The question is: does Jigra do justice to the quiet, measured flair that she brings to the role? Just about. And that, by all reckoning, is no mean feat.

13. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 3/5

But his ability to jolt our Bollywood conditioned brains into experiencing new forms of menace, turning a John Woo-style prison riot into a Chinese Communist movement and showcasing Alia in a savage new light won my dil and jigra.

14. Komal Nahta -

Rating Score -> n/a

Jigra is a film for the class audience only. It will do well in the high-end multiplexes and single-screen cinemas of the big cities. The Dassera holiday tomorrow (Saturday) will help. Masses will not appreciate it. Since Alia Bhatt has worked in the film without charging her fees as she is one of the producers, recovery of the moderate cost of the film will not be a problem. But the box-office business will be ordinary.

15. Outlook India -

Rating Score -> 2/5

If the flat characters are one problem, then the lack of humour—or anything else producing tonal variation—is another. Jigra unfolds in a monotonous register, failing to spring surprise or bite. A masala fare like this, centred on an omnipotent hero, will hardly have a surprising end (which isn’t a deal-breaker), but its means should be.

16. The Week -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Jigra fails to establish the relationship between the brother and the sister. There's hardly any depth to the characters of Ankur and Satya, or hardly any insight into why Satya is the way she is. The film rushes in, where it should have treaded carefully, and purposefully.
