Battle for the Box Office: Sarfira and Indian 2 Join the Fray with Screen Count Details

Today marks the release of two highly anticipated films, Sarfira and Indian 2 (Hindustani 2). Their entry into the theatrical arena comes at a time when Kalki 2898 AD and Kill are already competing for audience attention. The result is a significant reshuffling of screen allocations, impacting the box office landscape.

Screen Distribution

The screen count for Sarfira, an Akshay Kumar starrer, is estimated between 1800-1900 screens across India. While this figure might seem modest for a film headlined by a major star, it aligns with the pre-release hype and marketing efforts, suggesting it could be sufficient. However, advance ticket sales for Sarfira have been underwhelming, pointing to a likely tepid opening day.

Hindustani 2, the Hindi version of Indian 2, has secured approximately 1400-1500 screens across the country. The advance booking trends for this film also indicate a lackluster start, heavily relying on positive word-of-mouth to boost its fortunes over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD, which has dominated the box office for the past two weeks, continues to enjoy a strong presence with around 1800-1900 screens. The sustained interest in this film suggests it may continue to lead the box office through the weekend.

The biggest casualty of the new releases is Kill, which has been relegated to just 400-450 screens. For Kill to achieve a respectable second weekend, it will need high occupancy rates in these limited screens.

Screen Count as of July 12, 2024:

Sarfira (Week 1): 1800-1900 screens

Hindustani 2 (Week 1): 1400-1500 screens

Kalki 2898 AD (Week 3): 1800-1900 screens

Kill (Week 2): 400-450 screens
