Rating Score -> 3/5

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is undeniably a larger-than-life visual spectacle that transports viewers into a vividly imagined universe. In fact, the film’s visual quality is so high that it overshadows many of its obvious flaws by engaging the audience into the atmospherics of the make-believe world of Kasi and the Complex. Moreover, it's a concept that can spark imaginative experiences beyond the cinema.

2. Times Now News -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan's Dystopian Film Is Complex And Gripping. The dystopian film loosely reimagines the Hindu epic Mahabharat with a futuristic lens.

Prabhas Impresses As Modern-Day 'Karan' But It Is Amitabh Bachchan's Show. The film ends on a high note and leaves you with several questions.

6. Hindustan Times -

Rating Score -> n/a

Kalki 2898 AD might not be flawless, but it’s gutsy and intriguing enough to be watched on-screen. Nag has always excelled at human emotion (Yevade Subramanyam, Mahanati), and this film works because of that. As fun as it is to see a superhero-style sci-fi film from Telugu cinema to pushes the boundaries of what can be done, it works because you care about some of these characters.

7. India Today -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

Prabhas reigns supreme, Big B and Deepika Padukone exceptional. Director Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, is a sci-fi flick with ample doses of Hindu mythology. With grand visuals and superlative performances, the film is a visual extravaganza.

8. DNA -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

Amitabh's angry old man towers over Prabhas in brave but dragged-out marriage of mythology, sci-fi.  The saving grace is the impeccable world-building, stunning visuals, and Amitabh Bachchan turning back the clock in a fierce angry old man avatar.

9. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a

In Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin attempts an unusual meeting point of the past and the future by blending stories from the Mahabharata with a futuristic, dystopian science fiction world. He underlines that heroes are not born, but rise. The masterstroke lies in casting the indefatigable Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, the oldest human alive from the Kurukshetra war, and making him the backbone of the narrative. He is pitted against Bhairava (Prabhas), to set the stage for the arrival of Kalki, the final avatar of Vishnu. The film takes giant leaps of faith and has awe-inducing segments. Is Kalki 2898 AD a game-changer? In terms of ambition, yes. In terms of writing and storytelling, there are niggles.

10. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Prabhas overshadowed by towering Amitabh Bachchan in Nag Ashwin’s staggering spectacle. Kalki may have Prabhas as the headliner, but it is Amitabh Bachchan all the way: his Ashwatthama is suitably gravelly and epic-like. Kamal Haasan comes on sparingly but does leave an impact.

11. NDTV -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Kalki 2898 AD has the firepower that an aspiring futuristic franchise needs and it harnesses it pretty well. So, for all its flaws, it does not ever careen out of control.

12. IndiaDotCom -

Rating Score -> 3/5

It’s A Bachchan Show All The Way, Prabhas-Deepika Padukone Feel Like Guests. Kalki 2898 AD is a visually spectacular sci-fi film that offers a fresh and imaginative take on Indian mythology. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie combines elements of fantasy and futuristic technology to deliver a unique cinematic experience.

13. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

Kalki 2898 AD’s spectacle set in a timeline far, far away is just the beginning of a franchise that’s got a whole lot of dramatic confrontations, spirited battles and mythical madness on its mind.

14. India TV -

Rating Score -> 4/5

Kalki 2898 AD is a pure build-up for what's coming next in the sequel. The film is purely fictional but makes you believe that it is reality. Its larger-than-life spectacle transports you to Kashi, Complex and Shambala. The choice of actors and their perfect portrayal make this film a must-watch.
