Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is a super-blockbuster. There’s just no stopping the film at the ticket windows. The film also has tremendous repeat value because of the content and the music.
3. Times Now -
Rating Score -> 2/5
Luv Ranjan failed to deliver a good narrative to rom-com fans. The direction was weak in parts and was loosely written. He did take the build-up in the first half and all twists in the second-half route, but it seems, he lost way, somewhere in the middle. However, the climax did its trick and will leave the cine-goers laughing and clapping.

Rating Score -> 1.5/5
The Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor starrer is so boring. The writers of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar clearly didn’t get the memo on brevity being the soul of wit: the film drags on for two hours before it comes to the last twenty minutes, which is when the pace picks up.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is your age-old love story packaged in a modern day setup. It's weird and problematic but rendered in a funny manner, which might hook you in. You may struggle to sit through the pre-interval but things settle a bit after that. Definitely a one-time watch for some entertaining performances and monologues, if you love them as much as Kartik Aaryan does because it definitely helped him click with the masses.

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
If you are a rom-com lover, then you will enjoy the film a lot. A must-watch for Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor fans. If you appreciate good Bollywood songs, then you will like this film. If you have ever gone through a breakup then this movie is for you, if you love your family then this movie is for you and only.
7. Times of India -
Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has its humour and heart in place. Character building misses the mark, given the duration.
8. India Today -
Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’s second half and peppy climax redeem its lazy first half and making it a worthy entertainer. Someone give RK more rom-coms in the future please!
9. News 18 -
Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar might be a good-looking, shining and sanitised story about love, heartbreak and family ties in an urban and plush setting, but Luv doesn’t shy away from digging deep into the messiness, nuances and complexities of modern day relationships. It might not be risky, novel and experimental but it is fun, frothy and unpretentious in its appeal, and smells of formula in all its glory.
10. Rediff -
Rating Score -> 2.5/5
The greatest jhooth Bollywood has pulled off is to make us believe a leopard changes its spots, promises are written in stone and compromise is the same thing as choice as long as they fulfill a love story's sole objective of a happily-ever-after. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar rejoices in this dated deceit and stays true to its director's trademark boy bias. It's a truth universally acknowledged that Luv Ranjan's cinema isn't kind to women.
11. DNA -
Rating Score -> 3/5
Luv Ranjan's most 'mature' film is still cringe, saved only by Ranbir Kapoor. It is neatly divided into an intolerable and cringe first half, and a fun, rip-roaring second half, elevated from below average only by Ranbir Kapoor.
12. The Hindu -

Ranbir Kapoor carries Luv Ranjan’s rom-com... almost all the way. Behind the comic veneer, there is an engaging battle of perspectives; the film needed an actor of Ranbir Kapoor’s class to do justice to it, while Shraddha Kapoor brings a kind of freshness to the proceedings

Ranbir Kapoor Is The Sole Saving Grace Of Film That's More Vacuous Chatter Than Genuine Matter. More farce than comedy, more chaos than caprice, more dalliance than romance.
