Avatar: The Way of Water has taken a good start at the box office India on Friday (1st day). As early samples are coming in for the morning shows, the opening is good all over. It is excellent to outstanding in the Southern Part of India and in a few other B and C centers. However, the opening is just ok in the Nothern belt of India.
A 25% opening is not bad at all for two main reasons. The film is released on 3900 screens across India and is having an all time high ticket rate. It means even a decent occupancy will take the film's first day collection to a huge level. Friday is a normal working day and hence, occupancy is bound to increase in the later half of the day.
Avatar 2 is eyeing 40-50 crore NBOC for the first day. A 35 crore nett or more is almost a certainty seeing how it has opened in South India. Evening and night shows will give us an idea of whether the film can touch or go beyond the 40 crore nett mark. And if the film shows excellent occupancy in the latter half of the day then a 50 crore nett for the day is also a possibility.
