Samrat Prithviraj had a strictly ok first day at the box office. The film did start decently in the morning shows but failed to show any growth in noon and afternoon shows. At that time it was looking as if the film might end with a single-digit opening.
The film industry started getting a shockwave by then. However, a decent pick up from evening onwards enabled it to go past the double-digit score. However, numbers are much below par and the film needs a big push on day 2.
Samrat Prithviraj collected 10.7 crore nett approx on day one. In an ideal case scenario, Prithviraj needed an opening in excess of the 15 crore nett mark. A 20-25 crore nett would have been a good start. But the film failed to do so. Hence, now film needs a lot of ground to be recovered.
After such a below-average start, the film needs a big push of 40-50% on day 2. A general 20-30% growth will not help the film's cause. Even a 40-50% jump doesn't guarantee the safety of the film but it gives the film a chance to fight another day. Let's see how things unfold on Saturday now.
Samrat Prithviraj First Day (Friday) Box Office Collection - 10.7 crore nett approx
