Runway 34 had a poor start to its box office campaign on opening Friday (the first day). The film recorded low occupancy all through the day. There was a growth seen in the evening and night shows but that was not enough to salvage the day.
Runway 34 has collected 3.25-3.5 crore nett approx on day one as per estimates. Data are still pouring in and the actuals for the day may vary a little. Ideally, the film needed a start of 7-8 crore nett or even more to have a decent first weekend. But here first-day numbers are much below the mark.
Runway 34 has registered 18-20% occupancy for Day 1. Evening and night shows reported an occupancy of 25-30% which is better than morning and noon shows. The film started poorly in the morning with a 10% occupancy report. For the noon occupancy was around 15-17%.
All is not lost for Runway 34 if it recovers ground on Saturday and Sunday. But again a big recovery is needed. A 50% jump on Saturday is a must. Ideally, the jump should be 60-70% or even more. But at least a 50% jump will give it a chance.
The critic's word of mouth for the film is on the positive side. But again that doesn't have any impact on the box office performance. It is all about the audience's word of mouth. The initial trend suggests the audience's word of mouth is mixed to positive so far.
