Runway 34 has taken a very slow start at the box office on Friday (1st day) morning shows as early samples are coming in. Start is a bit shocking considering the film stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role.
Runway 34 is a multiplex-oriented film and that may be the reason for the slow start. The film has the potential to show a big jump as the day progresses. And if, the film received positive ground-level feedback from all around then expect the film to grow big on Saturday and Sunday. Before that film needs at least a decent Friday.
Runway 34 has opened with 10-12% occupancy in the morning shows today. Ideally, the film needed an opening of 20-25% if not more. The film has got a decent screening of 1800 across India. As the start is a bit slow film needs to grow big in the latter part of the day.
Yes, Runway 34 is unlike previous Ajay Devgn releases. It lacks all the ingredients that a mass masala potboiler has. Hence, a double-digit opening is not expected. But still, a 7-8 crore nett opening is a must. Anything below will again send a shockwave to the industry which is still ailing because of the big debacle of Bachchhan Paandey and Jersey. The only positive part is that film is made on a controlled budget.
