Jersey had a pretty poor first weekend at the box office. The film started very slowly on Friday and remained flat through the whole opening weekend. The film did show some good jump on Saturday but it is of no use as collections remained at a low level.
Jersey has added 5.75 crore nett approx on Sunday (day 3). Data are still pouring in and actuals may vary a little. Jersey total collection for the weekend stands at 14.9 crore nett approx. The film will touch 20 crore nett by the end of the first week and may go close to 25 crore nett mark also if film shows solid trending on weekdays.
But the problem is there are two big releases coming in Heropanti 2 and Runway 34 and there will be hardly any significant screenings left for Jersey from the upcoming Friday. Hence, there is a big possibility that Jersey's lifetime collection may wrap up under the 30 crore nett mark. If that happens it will be one of the biggest shocks in recent times as film will entitle heavy losses.
Yes, there is a recovery procedure where the makers recover their investment via digital and satellite rights. But nowadays that also comes with a clause that depends on the box office parameters. And as for Jersey lifetime India distributor share might remain in the range of 11-12 crores. It may remain below also if film registers a fall on 1st Monday.
