Gangubai Kathiawadi has shown a very good jump on Saturday (2nd day) at the box office. The jump from Friday is around 25-30% which is fantastic considering the film already did well on opening day.
Gangubai has collected 13.3 crore nett approx on the second day. Thus, the film's total business after two days is 23.8 crore nett. Film's first weekend collection is now heading towards the 38-39 crore nett mark. There is a possibility of touching 40 crore nett also if film shows another good growth on Sunday (day 3).
Gangubai has brought a big respite to the ailing Hindi film industry. Films are getting flopped left and right post-pandemic. The only true out and out hit was Sooryavanshi and simply nothing to show after that. If Gangubai remains solid on weekdays then we will have the second Hit post-pandemic period.
Gangubai has also given confidence to the makers of other films. They can now release their pending films as soon as possible as audiences are ready to come to theatres. Just imagine Gangubai is doing such business with a 50% occupancy cap in many parts of India. Collections would have been easily better if it had got full 100% occupancy all India.

Good jump. But how can it become a Hit when the budget is 180cr approx.
ReplyDeleteIt will not come close to collecting this amount.
83 collected approx 108cr,but had a budget of 200cr approx, and was a theatrical Flop.
It’s a way of trying to change the narrative. Lately the movie is being called as Alia’s film simply to tone down the expectations as calling it an SLB film would mean expecting at least 200 Cr BO business. Bollywood knows that people are not coming to watch their movies.
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteA movie is a Theatrical Flop if it can't collect the same as it's budget.
Revenue's collected outside of the theatre, like ott or music rights is different.
It's the theatrical revenue that makes a movie a Theatrical Flop or a Theatrical Hit.
Absolutely agree with you. Theatrical business is the barometer of the acceptability of the movie & the love it receives from the masses. But bollywood being bollywood has simply buried its head in the sand & refusing to see the writing on the wall. The most awaited movie Sooryavanshi couldn't touch 200 Crores whereas a dubbed Spiderman did 220 Cr in India, Pushpa did 108 Cr without any promotions in Hindi belt. And wait until KGF2 & RRR release. These Bollyjokers will come up with some other excuse then.
