Gangubai Kathiawadi had a good opening weekend at the box office. The film registered a further solid growth on Sunday (day 3) to post a healthy first weekend total. Now it is all up to the weekdays.
Gangubai has collected 15.3 crore nett approx on Sunday. The film registered a good jump of 15% from Saturday. Growth is good considering the film did pretty well on Saturday. Thus, the film's opening weekend total stands at 39.1 crore nett.
In some places, 50% occupancy capping hampered the film's progress as it performed to its full potential. Had 100% occupancy been allowed there then the 3rd day of business would have been even better.
Gangubai has won the weekend battle. Film real test starts from 1st Monday (4th day) onward. Firstly it needs to hold well on day 4 and then should sustain well through the weekdays. If it happens then Gangubai can emerge as the first Hindi Hit of 2022.
Collection Breakup -
Friday - 10.5 cr nett
Saturday - 13.3 cr nett
Sunday - 15.3 cr nett approx
Total - 39.1 cr nett approx

BUT, please kindly explain, if 83 collected 47cr approx in 3days, and was classified a Theatrical Flop because it collected 108cr with a 200cr approx budget.
Gangubai collects 39cr approx, and has a budget of 180cr approx, so there is no hope of Gangubai being a Hit.
So on what basis is it being called a Hit?
Thanks
Hi KG,
Delete83 Budget is around 240-250 cr whereas Gangubai budget is around 160-170 cr.... So there is a significant budget difference. 83 needed to be Theatrically Hit at 160-170 cr NBOC, whereas Gangubai needs around 110 cr NBOC as if now... Digital and Satellite Recoveries and Overseas recoveries are also need to be considered. Thanks.
Thank you for kindly advising.
DeleteHas the criteria changed post-pandemic for what is considered a Hit or Flop?
I'm sure (i might be wrong), that pre-pandemic a movie being a Hit or Flop was only on the basis of theatrical revenue. And not from any revenue received from outside, like ott or music rights etc.
