83 had a decent second-weekend collection in India. Despite that, the film's overall box office performance is much below the mark. The film has salvaged some pride in the 2nd weekend and let's hope that it recovers some more on weekdays.
83 has collected 7.3 crore net approx on 10th day (2nd Sunday). Film second weekend total is around 19.4 crore net approx which is not at all bad. Film total collection currently stands at 91.25 crore net approx.
Trending of 83 is not at all that bad considering it is released in post-pandemic times and with restrictions in cinema halls. Even cinema halls get closed in Delhi and some others. So a 90 crore plus business is not at all bad considering all the limitations.
The problem arises when we consider the film budget. It is huge and needs a huge return from Indian theatricals. Yes, the film will get a good chunk of returns from Satellite, Digital, Music, and Overseas deals. Still, it needs another 80-85 crores from India theatrical distributor share to break even. 83 will at most get 50-55 crores distributor share from India theatricals. So at least a loss of 25-35 crores is more or less is guaranteed now. It might be more also.

ReplyDeleteIt will get through 100cr and then release on ott otherwise will be a huge loss of 80-100cr...disaster
With less ticket rates it would get not even 100 and more less footfall
Probably will be a big drop in collection, maybe 2-3cr today only.
