There is some heartening news for all Bollywood lovers. Roohi is the new major release post the Covid pandemic and the film has registered some kind of footfall at the box office. Although occupancy is at the lower level but still significant considering all the current factors.
Roohi is doing decently in Delhi, whereas occupancy is at a lower level in the rest. Maharastra Govt has allowed up to 50% occupancy in cinema halls and hence, the film is reporting much lower occupancy in places like Mumbai and Pune, and the rest of the state.
Overall Roohi has reported around 10% occupancy (limited samples) till the last report filled in. The film did pick up a bit from noon onward and has maintained that pace in the evening shows. Hope the film holds decent in the night shows. Reports of the film are mixed and we will have the true word of mouth by the end of Friday or so.
Earlier in normal circumstances, a 10% occupancy would have been very poor. But post-Covid any kind of occupancy is good. Plus, Roohi is the first major release of 2021. Hence, the numbers look decent so far. At least it is better than no show. Roohi's theatrical release has also hinted that movie lovers are eager to come to theaters to watch films. We do hope that the current covid situation improves in Maharastra and govt allows 100% occupancy there also soon.
