Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Mixed!

Rating Score -> 3/5
We’ve seen Nawazuddin as a policeman before (Kahaani), but his recent criminal turns have taken over our memory. It’s nice to see him arrayed on the other side, giving us a glimpse into his character’s vulnerabilities. Apte, who had also been coming off much too-familiar, digs her teeth into her woman wronged: she knows that she isn’t always in the right, but she knows what is right.

As fun as the film is, it can’t help but come across as a wasted opportunity in this regard. Singh’s screenplay sets the stage for subversion, but concludes rather clumsily. A romantic subplot involving Jatil and the old man’s mistress feels tangential, and serves only as additional motivation for a man who doesn’t really need any.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is back in form after a forgettable Ghoomketu. As a man tackling personal and professional upheavals and displaying conflicting ideals, Nawaz is in top form. Radhika Apte is equally compelling as a mysterious Radha. Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shweta Tripathi, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Nishant Dahiya play their parts well. Aditya Srivastava feels a bit out of place though. Raat Akeli Hai is a sincere attempt but it isn’t engaging enough for you to feel the joy of solving a murderous puzzle or detective riddles.

4. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a
In its first one hour, the film does a competent job of ushering you into this murky crime and twisted household but then, somewhere along the way, loses its hold over characterisation in the pursuit of being a shocking thriller. Sure, the end is surprising but the film misses that vital feeling of being a step ahead of you and the detective, even when you think you've got it all figured out.

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Though Siddiqui and Apte try their best to make Raat Akeli Hai a layered storytelling, it lacks the earnestness of good suspense thrillers. Shivani Raghuvanshi deserves a special mention here. She has been excelling and adding immense value to her characters, and she has done it once again in Raat Akeli Hai.

6. DNA -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Overall Raat Akeli Hai could have been a great watch if things were minimized or it was turned into a Netflix original series rather! Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte overpower in this film filled with talented actors.

7. Zoom TV -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Overall, Raat Akeli Hai won't wow you or keep you at the edge of your seat but it is still a gripping murder mystery to come out of the Hindi film industry in a long time. This will satiate the suckers for whodunits.

Nawazuddin is at his usual best. He is perfect as Jatil Yadav, investigating the case. He might not agree but he is insecure about his dark complexion. You get to know about it when you see him applying Fair & Lovely - oops, GLow & Lovely - the tube of which is hidden behind his mirror. He might tell his mother he is not interested in getting married but actually is waiting to meet the love of his life.
