Prithviraj and Laal Singh Chaddha are Running Late, Diwali and Christmas 2020 Period opens up

Two most anticipated films of the year Prithiviraj and Laal Singh Chaddha is badly affected by coronavirus pandemic. Both films shooting is halted and it is most likely that their release date will get postponed from the original schedule.

Prithviraj starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar are scheduled for Diwali 2020 release. But a major portion of shooting is still pending. The Film has no option left but to back off from the Diwali release date. Chances of film releasing near the end of 2020 are also slim as filming is still left and major post-production work is left. 

Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan is also running late as all work has come to a standstill. It has been nearly two months since the filming is stopped. There seems no chance that filming will start at least in another month or so. Despite film scheduled for release on Christmas and there being ample time at this moment, still, chances are very slim that shooting and post-production work will be completed on time. 

This opens up both Diwali and Christmas 2020 release periods. No doubt makers will look into that. Biggies like Sooryavanshi, 83, Coolie No.1, Laxmmi Bomb (if gets theatrical release), Radhe are most affected because of the latest pandemic. Chances are that few of these biggies might grab these coveted festive release slots. Again all depends on condition that if and when theater gets opened in India.

With lockdown (4.0) getting relaxed all over India, there are chances (slim though) that cinema halls may open again much sooner than the expected schedule. However, it will be an uphill task for the exhibition sector to pull the crowd to the theaters at this critical time phase. Hence, chances are good that makers might postpone their film release by a few weeks or months despite theaters getting opened. 

Again, on the other hand, small and medium budget filmmakers may take this as an opportunity and may release their films much earlier than expected because they might get free run in theaters which was simply unthinkable in the pre-corona period.
